The Cold Moon of June in the Southern Hemisphere

The Cold Moon of June in the Southern Hemisphere

The Cold Moon is the name given to the Full Moon of June, in the Southern Hemisphere. As Winter is officially upon us, there is snow on the mountains and you can feel that icy chill in the air.

This Full Moon on the 11th of June 2025 is in Sagittarius, which invites you to explore new ideas, get out of your comfort zone and embrace your adventurous side. Maybe try something new or finally pursue that dream you've been longing for!

I'd also like to say that it is Winter and it's ok to simply hibernate and do nothing. I had this forced upon me this weekend when I got sick and therefore had to rest and stop pressuring myself to produce content and take a step back from my work. Which is hard for me to do as I'm very passionate - but if you don't take regular rest days yourself your body will force you to. There's my little self care reminder for you that I should really follow myself!

I invite you to focus your Full Moon rituals around releasing whatever is holding you back and stepping forth into who you really are. Take a bath if you can as water cleanses, add epsom salts to draw out any physical tension and then imagine all your doubts and worries leaving you behind as they go spiralling down the drain. You can still wash your face in a basin if you don't have a bath.

Make Moon water by filling clear bottles or glasses of water outside or on a windowsill under the Moonlight. You can also charge any special objects with the energy of the Full Moon; such as jewellery or crystals, or your wallet if you would like to attract more money.

Light a special candle and write what you want to let go of on a bayleaf (or on a piece of paper if you feel the need to get more detail out) and burn it. I use the candle flame to light it and then throw it in our fireplace. Watch the flames dance and imagine releasing whatever is holding you back.

I made this Cold Moon Candle with a thin layer of white beeswax covering the icy blue to represent frozen water or chilly Winter skies. Perfect for your Full Moon rituals.

How have you been feeling leading up to this Full Moon? Let me know in the comments.
