About
My name is Maniana Heywood, I live in New Zealand and celebrate the Wheel of the Year festivals in the Southern Hemisphere on their seasonally accurate dates which change astronomically each year depending on when the Solstices and Equinoxes occur.
Living in the Southern Hemisphere I always found it frustrating that the majority of the Wheel of the Year content is for the Northern Hemisphere - so I created my own!
I’ve known about the Wheel of the Year my whole life but only started intentionally celebrating the seasons when I became a stay at home mum because I suddenly had the time and inspiration! When I was working full time I felt completely out of touch with the cycles of nature and didn’t have time or energy for anything ‘extra’. If this resonates - I feel you!
This is exactly why I’ve written my first ebook, ‘Southern Seasons - A Simple Guide to Celebrating The Wheel of the Year in the Southern Hemisphere’ to support you on your journey to creating your own traditions that align with nature. I want to help make it easier for people who would love to celebrate the southern seasons but don’t know where to start.
It is a comprehensive guide with a condensed informative page for each festival (there are eight each year) featuring crafts and activities, seasonal foods and home decoration ideas. It includes a quick reference page with simplified notes all of the festivals, their traditional dates and themes plus a seasonal colour palette, which helps if you’re a visual person like me. If you are short on time you can always take a quick glance at this for easy last minute ideas.
